Privacy notice
This website provides firmware and USB installation for CI-Lights. The following information describes how data is processed on this website.
1. Controller
Wanja RelitzkiOldekopstraße 60
30659 Hannover
Germany
Email: wanja_relitzki@hotmail.com
2. Hosting on GitHub Pages
This website and its firmware files are served through GitHub Pages. When you access them, GitHub processes technical connection data such as your IP address, the time, the requested file, and browser and HTTP information. This enables delivery and protection against abuse. The legal basis for using this service is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is to provide this project reliably and securely.
The recipient is GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. GitHub also processes data in the United States and other countries, and cites EU Standard Contractual Clauses in particular as safeguards for international transfers. Details on safeguards, processing and retention are in the GitHub Privacy Statement. The operator has no access to GitHub’s server logs and does not determine how long they are retained.
3. esptool-js from UNPKG
Only after you click “Connect device via USB” and select a USB port does your browser load Espressif’s esptool-js flash library, pinned to version 0.6.1, from unpkg.com. Your IP address and technical HTTP request details are transmitted to UNPKG or its CDN. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is to provide the flash function you requested. Without this connection, USB installation on this website is not possible.
UNPKG uses the global network of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Processing may also take place in the United States. Cloudflare cites the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses for other transfers as safeguards. Details and retention information are in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. The operator does not receive this connection data and does not determine the providers’ log retention periods.
4. USB communication and settings
After you grant access to a port, your browser communicates locally with the ESP32 using Web Serial. The flash function transfers firmware to the connected device. It does not upload device logs, MAC addresses, Wi-Fi passwords or Jenkins credentials to a server. Your browser manages port permissions; you can revoke them there.
The website does not read saved settings. When the erase option is unchecked, the settings and branding regions are excluded from writing. “Erase all device data” clears the flash before installation. “Erase device” clears the entire flash without installation. Both require your confirmation. Downloads and connection data are processed as described in Sections 2 and 3.
5. Cookies, analytics and local storage
This website itself sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising services, external fonts or browser storage to track visits. The flash library is only loaded when connecting. The operator does not create profiles. Your browser manages its technical cache and Web Serial permissions.
6. Email and external links
An email link opens your email application. Only when you send the message are its contents transmitted through your email provider. The operator processes your sender address and message to reply, based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR or, for contract-related enquiries, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Messages are deleted once the enquiry has been resolved and no retention obligation or other necessity remains.
External links are opened only when you click them. The destination provider’s privacy notices apply on that website; it receives technical connection data when you visit.
7. Your rights
Subject to the applicable legal conditions, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. To exercise them, contact the controller above. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation (Article 21 GDPR).
You may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular the State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony.
